GTX speedo problem

I just bought a gorgeous 2001 GTX. Day one was great, I love it. Day two, no speedo. It is sporadic and jumpy sometimes, and dead most of the time. I have a friend with a 98 that is dead also. Is there a known problem with these? How do I fix it?

Also, this is a stupid question, how do I know if I have a GTX or a GTX DI?

I've never had one, and don't know what to look for. In short, I don't know. I'll look tonight. What should I look for?

look to see if you have carbs on the motorgo to this site and look at the pics compared to your ski www.hlsm.com

If it is a DI, it will say GTXDI on the side of the deck.
