  • I think that I have water getting in the cylinder?

I have 2 96 Xp's that I would like to sell. However one runs well and the other starts and seems to idle fine ( maybe a little high). Then after it runs for a bout a minute it starts to run rough. this usually happens a few seconds after the water is turned on. It then has a pop pop pop out the exhaust and will not rev when I try to accel. the plugs look the same when removed, both dark and wet.
what I have swapped from the good ski to the bad to find the problem with no luck are.
    carbs
    front electric box (all)
rear electric box with coil and wires
swapped in a stator and pick up
    changed plugs
    front fuel filter
    fuel lines
    good gas

It sounds like water is fouling the plug or making it misfire and pop out the exhaust and as I give it more throttle the pop gets louder and it runs rougher.
Do you think that I should pull the head and look? I think it is the pto cyl. the compression was 155 and about 152 with a weak batt. I guess that I should also state that both skis have been in salt but were regulalry flushed.

    Any help would be great

if its an oil wet the engine could have bad seals or an air leak , you will also want to put a volt metor on it and make sure its charging . your rectifre could mess ya up also make sure its not over charging .
