  • priming oil pump/lines??? 787

OK, I'm about ready to drop the motor back in my ski..... the small injector lines are full of oil, but the main oil lines from the tank are not. Is there a proceedure that I need to follow to get the air out of these main oil lines, or will they fill & purge the air from themselves when they are connected and the crimp/clamps that I put on the lines are removed? I decided against the pre-mix setup because of the issues with gas station fill-ups, and the hassle of measuring and mixing, etc.....I dfidn't replace the injector lines from oil pump to intake, because the engine I'm installing has extremely low hours and everything looks as good as new.....should I replace them anyway?
Should I start the ski up on pre-mix until the lines "bleed out" all the air in the oiling system???
    thanks in advance, Fred

Connect the hose to the oil pump from the oil tank. Watch to see if all the air bubbles travel up the line to the tank. Open the bleeder screw on the oil pump to bleed any air that may be trapped in the oil pump. When pure oil runs out, close the bleeder screw on the oil pump. Start the motor, holding the oil pump lever arm open with your hand until all bubbles have passed through the two small oil lines going from the oil pump to the intake manifold/RV cover.
When you see full oil injection lines with no air bubbles, you are good to go.

Do not worry about bubbles in the other two bigerr oil lines that feed the RV cavity.

For the cost of that tubing,it's well worth replacing - in my opinion...

The original lines are painted white & you can't see if there are air bubbles. Plus, if they are the original, they are probably cracked already.
