I have read that the counterbalance shaft has oil and needs checking or replacing every 100 hours. The only thing I can find about the case is during a rebuild, add 30 mls of oil. Is it important to check or change this oil as maintanence? I cant see and plug or dipstick to even check the level.

    Thanks. :emoticonn

there is a drain screw on the bottom of the case and there is a filler hole that has a plug with a line in it for a really big flat tip screw driver, i believe the drain is an alen screw. very hard to get to with motor in hull

If its a concern, just pull the motor out and do it. Some don't bother with it, but if the book says every 100 hours, go ahead and yank the motor and do it. There is no dipstick to check it with. I usually fill the thing up till it bubbles out.
