My VTS on my xpl is getting the best of me. I have gone through the ski over and over again and I can't get my vts to work. Motor works perfect, I have a new vts unit, fuses are all good, grounds are all good. It acts like the module is bad because when you push the vts button, it just clicks. Yet I know its not that because I have 3 new units at my shop that I tried. Has anyone had the vts in the mpem get screwed up to prevent it from working????? Its the only thing left that could be at fault.

Re: MPEM vs. VTS???
Are you sure you have not had the motor go into over travel I usually wont rec people to .net but go there and read the tech article on VTS especially the section that talks about overtravel. just added this after Chris talked about the rod Motor runs, but trim does not go up or down. Trim “pulsates” as motor runs, but doesn’t move. Replace worm gear and sliding shaftLast edited by frankey01; 07-10-2005, 10:47 PM.

Re: MPEM vs. VTS???
Thanks for the help guys, but i'm afriad I've tried it all that I can see. I tested the motor w/ a battery and it moved back and forth just fine. I tried three other new modules because my friend owns a seadoo dealership and it even stumps him. I even replaced the plactic rod because it was broken by the previous owner. The gauge works because you can slide the rod back and forth when the motor is out and it goes up and down perfectly. I know the fuses aren't bad because I replaced them all with exactly the right amp fuse. I guess it still could be a broken wire somewhere, but is there anything else that I possibly could have overlooked????:emoticond

Re: MPEM vs. VTS???
You have a bad switch on the handlebar.....It is stuck in one position......If you pay attention only one of the VTS buttons will make the module "click".John Kubiak

Re: MPEM vs. VTS???
Thats the strange part bill, I bought 2 other brand new units. It all started with the trim clicking so my initial thought was buy a new module because I've heard of this before. Thus I went out and bought one and put it in and it did the same thing, click click click. People I talked to still insisted it was the module so I again went out and bought another new one thinking maybe the one I purchased was a dud. Three modules, same problem. So for ha ha's I put one of my modules in my friends XPL and it worked perfect. So i'm stumped yet again.

Re: MPEM vs. VTS???
Manually set trim to middle and then try it Im telling you this because it happened to me what it was is the switch had went into overtravel mode and the switch was clicking but was staying open and not moving the trim I reset it and tried and it was fine the overtravel was eliminated try it it costs nothing to do it.

Re: MPEM vs. VTS???
Umm, is the trim is clicking repeatedly and on it's own...kinda like the sound it would make as it keeps trying to go all the way up or down, like a switch is stuck....check the nozzle, is it going to full up or full down? Whichever way the nozzle is going is the switch that is bad...If you press and hold the other switch, I'll bet the VTS will move to the other position, until you release the switch, then it will go back to the other extreme! Go check it out!!John Kubiak
