If it is really a 1996 model, it is plastic. And it is not by the motor, it is in the back of the hull and water shoots out of it and makes the sea doo go forward.
The last grey metal pumps came in 1992 models, then they painted them black, and finally, in 1995 they made them using a plastic housing instead of a metal housing.
