Ok heres a quick summary on my situation. Last year bought a 96 xp got some mods on it buckshot carbs factory racing pipe some msd unit, it ran really good until a friend was riding it and the hose on the top of the exhust that goes to the front of the hull looked like it burned off the hull filled up with water he kept riding it back till the carbs sucked up too much water. got it home and before I got a chance to work on it the motor was froze... I got a new engine from SBT its a 787 same everything. I got the engine in the hull everything hooked up and put the key in and no click. I also just put in a sbt high torque starter and just replaced the starter silonid and still nothing.. when I hit the pos. battery cable to the starter wire it will click and turn a lil but I do not want to start it like that it is a brand new motor and want it right. It also had a rev limiter on it in the back black box I took that off and still nothing. Does anyone know of any shops in S. califorina withen 75 miles of north hollywood that would be great?? This is a great ski great shape but im fed up working on it anyone with any ideas that would be a great help or Bill oneal I can drop it off if you have time.

Re: 96xp no start
Im sorry I forgot to put in when I put the key on I get no beeps lights or any power at all, On the ski it got one of those U.N.I. start buttons looks newer in good shape but it could still be a problem I guess. Mabey I hooked up the power cables wrong? I got 1 red going to the starter from the silionid and I got 1 ground wire going from the black battery I put it on a bolt that holds the starter to the block. In the black box wich other wires go to the battery cable side on the silionid? He had some wires spliced for a black box says microtuch on it I think that is a rev limiter I took that off and still no power. There is the silinoid with a plug and a hot wire from the battery and a wire that goes to the starter. underneath that there is 2 plugs both have 2 red wires in each, one of the wires on each plug is cut, I dont know if he had that going to the rev limeter or the power on the batterycable side of the silionid? Also there is wires comming from a silionid on top of the exughst pipe that goes into a plug then follows into the black bok there is a red wire and a black wire what does that hook up too the wires are cut there as well?

Re: 96xp no start
This may sound crazy. But at the first of the summer I had the same issue. What I found was the Two wires the plug into the start solenoid where showing an open. I cut them back and re-soldered the connections just before the plug.
From the necked eye they looked good. But they where open. The wire colors where:
Yellow/Red and Black.
My Yellow/Red was the open wire.

Re: 96xp no start
Both boxes have fuses. Go to www.ronnies.com and pull up the electrics on the ski you have and it will show you where to look for fuses. your rear electrics box and the MPEM

Re: 96xp no start
**** you hit the nail on the head, In the back fuse box I changed out the 2 fuses and now it gets power and will crank when I hit the button. Now I went to hook up the lil silinoid on top of the exhust pipe by the carbs and I tested it cause it looks old and kinda rusty and it did not open or make any click at all. The hose right above that is the hose that melted and made the hull fill up with water, Can that be the cause that silinoid not getting water to cool off the pipe?

Re: 96xp no start
Hymm looking at some of the micro fiche pics I do not see this on there, it must be a aftermarket part, it has a factory race pipe on it and up at the top of the pipe up above the carbs there is a silionid with a water hose hook up on it, I guess where the water goes into to cool off the pipe it has 2 wires on it a black and a red when you put it straight to power there is no click the silinoid is dead. On some other aftermarket pipes I think it might be a water control valve
