  • Removing intake grate & ride plate

Has anyone ever had any trouble with removing their intake grate & ride plate? I tried yesterday and the screws were so tight that they were beginning to stip on the heads-i was using the correct size screwdriver and i am thinking that corrosion has caused them to be really tight. I'm worried that if i try to do it again i am going to make a mess of things. Does anyone have any suggestions-i tried loosening them up with WD40.

    Thanks for any input.

Saltwater ski?? if so good luck. You might try using a hammer and a screw out device or heating them up with a propane torch then trying to loosen them.

Use a spot torch ( butane) on the screw heads, let them get hot so they break the red loctite bond.
Then use an IMPACT driver to loosen them.
