  • Fast idle after install 2000 GTX

Installed SBT engine per instructions. Used break-in oil. 4000 rpm with flush hook up out of water. Trying to prime small oil tubes by turning pump by hand. One small tube did not have oil in it but now I can see it starting to prime. I feel that I want to get it in the water for additional adjustments. What other things do I look for before I try to adjust the idle down? Any other experenced comments welcome. Thanks

Finish priming the oil pump, then adjust your idle to 2800 out of the water. Once in the water, check for idle speed (1400), water leaks, and see if water is circulating through the system and the motor runs cool.

Now I have noticed the engine start to run away as I'm still trying to prime the oil pump. Any suggestions? Air leak? How to I.D. leak And steps for correcting?
      Thanks

Open the low speed adjusters about 1/4 turn furter out and try again.

Bill well I thought I had it. Moved counterclockwise the low speed adj 1/4. Started-up Eng. held around 4000. Primed oil pump for around 5-10 sec. maybe still some air pockets on long line. Tryed to adj the idle rpms started to run up and I killed it again. Is the idle adj screw (stop) on the lower aft carb by the pump assembly. I'm about ready to pull the carbs back off just look at the idle adjust. Can you tell me where I can find a pic of the idle adjust on my carbs? Small note both keys work but neither give me a two beep like they did last week. I'm back on the road for a couple of days thanks for your help.

The idle adjuster is a tee handle facing forward (towards the bow). It is on a 45 degree angle and is in plain sight when looking at the front of the carbureators, right under or around the rubber flap.
