  • GTi Blowing the 5amp fuse

I have a 1997 Sea Doo GTi. I made the mistake of jump starting when the warning label clearly stated not to. The 15 amp and 5 amp fuse were burnt under the front cover. I replaced the rectifier and fuses under the front cover and the 5amp fuse is still blowing. What other parts could cause the 5amp fuse to blow? No electrcity is present in the GTi.

    PLease help!

It is the main "brain" in the electrical box. MPEM = Multi Purpose Electronic Module. Expect to pay around $300.00 for a new one.

Ahh, the price of a "jump-start" Gee, I wonder why Bombardier puts a decal on the ski that says "DO NOT BOOST BATTERY WHILE INSTALLED????

:emoticonb Yea, real funny. I thought maybe they didn't want explosions after sparks. You would think that the manufacture would have made certain that you could jump start a PWC.

              Thanks Guys!

Yes sparks are a concern too.

I have sucessfully jumped about 10000 SD's. I only had trouble with the two that I got the cables reversed on.

Re: GTi Blowing the 5amp fuse

Well, maybe they didn't want you to damage the electrical system! Or possibly they didn't want you to jump start you Sea-Doo and ride it without a working charging system, and get stranded when the engine is shut off for whatever reason. Then again It could be for the explosions you mentioned. Of course, I agree with Bill "They just think it's nice to put stickers on their products." After all no one seems to follow their advisories anyways!

Most of the dealers I have been in contact with are asking $416.00 for the part I need. Are any of you dealers? Many thanks for your help.

Yes, but that is close to what that part is worth from any dealership. Try www.parkeryamaha.com
