    I had similar problem. seemed like the old oring was a bit thicker and I used the gasket and just simply pushed the cover as far as all the slop in the screw holes would allow. the groove for the oring is machined soooo close to edge if you just assemble it then it would leak. Not had that problem on any other carbs yet. See if that little bit gets it.

      I always resurface the flat parts of the carb when rebuilding. If you dont have a surface plate, a thick piece of glass will work. 400 grit sandpaper, sand until you have even surface marks. I like to spray with WD-40 so the paper doesnt clog. Use blueing die if you have it. Sand until all blueing is gone.
