  • 96 GSX dies down low

I did a compression check and I have 125 and 130 I don't know if this is bad or not? When I get out of the power band it will just die, but keep it up in the power band and she screams. I did suck up some water not long ago due to towing behind my boat. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

How did you know the engine was cold and the throttle was closed? :D Anyway it dies down low. if you let off the throttle it will die it also seems to run pretty rough in the low RPM's. But up high the ski is real fast. Thanks for your help:emoticont

That is very low compression for a 787 if it is correct. Probably have piston damage from clogged up carbureators.

Despite years of listening to Gorge from HPT, I finally invested in a Craftsman compression tester. I was curious to see what my 96 GSX was doing. To my surprise, I got 160-165 on the mag and closer to 170 on the PTO.:emoticont ( I have a Buckshot head, however).
