Tried searching forum but didn't find similar problem, Since I now have 2 ski's on a double trailer, I can't fit them into my garage, the ski's have been outside covered up. My 96 GTI had a weak battery, charge it, ski started ok, however, it appeared that the dess key had to be removed and placed on the post several times before I'd get the double beep and it would start. I put a new battery in it, cleaned the key and post, checked for corrosin in the electrical box, none found. Now when I put the key on the post, I get no beeps, but the ski starts and run fine. Any ideas ?

Re: Dess - no beep still starts
Before you take it all apart, get a test meter and check to see if the boat is sending any power to the beeper. Locate the plug for the beeper and stick the tester probes into the lead **coming from the boat** not the leads that go to the buzzer. Plug in your lanyard and the meter should show two voltage spikes (beep beep).
If you dont get the spikes, then the problem isnt your buzzer.Never miss a good chance to shut up.

Re: Dess - no beep still starts
Attach lanyard, remove terminal from temperature sensor, ground terminal to engine block bare metal, no beep, replace beeper. If it beeps, the problem is in the MPEM, and you have 2 choices 1.) Leave everything as is**or** 2.) Replace MPEM that does everything except beep when you attach the lanyardOriginally posted by the_other_guyBefore you take it all apart, get a test meter and check to see if the boat is sending any power to the beeper.
