  • stupid newbie question

As some know from my other posts I picked up a 96 XP from a co-worker.

I was chatting with the guy who gave it to me and he mentioned that it doesn't spit the water up in the air. Not that I'm upset over this, but I was just curious as to why some do and some don't. I'm assuming that the stream is just the engine cooling water being pumped up in the air, but not sure.

On the edit* Probably help to post the question. What exactly is that rooster tail stream of water, and is there any reason for me to make mine shot up or is just an appearance thing.

The "rooster tail" stream of water only occurs on Yamahas. None of the other manufacturers do this. It is simply a "visibility spout" to make yourself more visible to other boaters. It is rather annoying if you are towing tubes or skiers, as the spray hits them. I disconnected mine.

Just make sure your pisser is shooting out a stream of cooling water when your engine is running and your ski is in the water. I don't know much about Sea-Doos, but I assume yours would be on the side of your ski, but I could be wrong.

Sweet, that explains it for me. So essentially instead of a rooster tail, I have a rooster pisser. haha.
