  • Part detail for exhaust leak

I have an exhaust leak at the pipe/maifold on my 95 GTX. I've fixed this twice but the bolts have sheared off again. I'd like to replace the torx head bolt with a conventional head so I can get a better reading with the torque wrench. The part says it's a M8 x 30 bolt. Can someone tell me what size of bolt that is? I had the dealership check the mounting bushings nad they said that they're fine so, I can only figure that I had the bolts too tight and they sheared again.
    Thanks.

Re: Part detail for exhaust leak

If you change the pitch of your impellor, the broken bolt problem will go away completely.
    M8x30 is an 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch bolt 30 mm long.

Thanks. I guess I need to buy a new impellor in order to change the pitch. The original one is what is on there now.

The orginal one must be damaged, or the wear ring is worn out. Send it to Impros and save over $100.00

Great suggestion. Can you tell me what pitch is on there now and do you have any suggestions for a replacement? Stay with factory specs or upgrade. I ride on smooth to a small chop freshwater, sometimes pulling a skier.

The manual states it has an oem 10x22 SS impellor. Nothing wrong with that if everthing is perfect, which is rare in a 1995 model ski. David at Impros may have a better pitch suggesstion if you tell him what you primarily use your watercraft for, like towing tubers..... Or if you operated at a higher than normal altitude, ect.

Re:Part detail for exhaust leak*UPDATE: more trouble!

Thanks Bill. I got everything bolted up. Then I wanted to change the pump oil and have a look at the wear ring and the impellor. I've never smelled something as bad the old pump oil. I've done my own winterization for 3 years and I had never changed it. It was dealer serviced before that and I don't think that they ever changed it either! There was no water in it. The wear ring had a piece hanging loose so it definately needs to be replaced. The prop is pretty chewed up too so, I'll see if it can be fixed or replace it. Hopefully that will stop the vibration that keeps shearing off the exhaust/manifold bolts.
Is there anything elase that I should look at doing now that I have the back end apart? Again, this is a '95 GTX.

Yes remove the driveshaft carrier bearing and replace the seals in both ends.
