  • Help with 99 Xp

Hi can any 1 suggest an solution to my problem.

99 xpl rejetted carbs with proks

in water at idle (1500rpm) And if I accelrate hard from a standstill i can feel either cavatation or a missfire near the top of the rev range as I move off the noise sounds a bit like the motor's hitting the limiter.

    Things I have checked:-
    replaced wear ring
    sealed pump
    cut back plug leads
    checked carbs
    tested tps

yesterday I replaced plug leads & found some corrosion on the teminals on each coil(two white wires) & cleaned the earths to the front cover. I will be testing on the water again on thursday

I am aware that the carbon ring on the drive shaft can let air into the pump but it looks ok no gooves or pitting .

Apart from all this I dont know what else to check Any ideas?

    Thanks

      Re: Help with 99 Xp

      I have tried stock impeller & currently have a skat-trak 13/21 installed
The pump is not the orginal bronze one it was replaced with plastic 1

If only i could identify if the problem is drive related or electrical/engine related i could focus on 1 area.

Do you think that correosion on the spade connector on the coils could cause a problem?

Iam also gonna try my 98 gsxl pump (purple & red silver engine)

      Thanks

Sure any corroded terminals could be causing your problem, hot terminals or ground terminals, fuse holders, ect.
