  • '97 xp On premix.

I finally got the new motor running after replacing a starter and a solenoid. I went throught the break in process very carefully and now it has aprox. 20 hrs. on it. I have been running 40:1 premix through it and after a day out on the lake I foul the plugs. It will run rough and hard start unless I change them. Will it hurt to lean the mixture out? If not what ratio do you recommend?

40:1 is correct - how are you measuring? What plugs are you using? Do you idle a lot? What is your idle speed set at, out of the water?

      Try clipping the sparkplug wires.
