I got a 97 xp with A stator problem. The battery is not getting a charge. So I changed the rectifier= same problem. So I bought a manual and did a little reading. I checked the resistence of the stator and got about 10 ohm's the books says it needs to be .1-1.0 ohm's. After that I checked the a/c voltage directly off the stator plug I reved it pretty high and only got about 6 volts the book says it needs to be like 40 volts.
Ok my question is could this be because its really dirty inside? What are my chances of cleaning it and removing any corrosion fixing the problem?
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Thanx,
WILL
