97 SPX Waterbox RAVE setting?

Can anyone tell me how many turns out from bottom the RAVE valve (if that is the correct term) on the waterbox should be adjusted to? The red adjustment knob is currently flush with the top of the valve assembly. Also, is there any way to test to see if the waterbox is working properly? Do you need to "clean" the valve like the RAVE valves on the engine?

It is not a rave valve. You do not clean it.
It is a water regulator. The flush red cap is fine.

Look for water leaking from it after riding the ski. Look for stains on top of the muffler. Any signs of a leak or water stains, fix or replace the valve.
