I have a wasted motor in my ski and came across an older one of the same displacement which I have been trying to install in place of the original. I have changed over the vast majority of external and ignition components to facilitate the origianl wiring and hose configuration. The older motor has, what I believe to be, an external water pump located below the exhaust manifold. The original motor did not have this item and therefore does not have hoses available for it. I am wondering if there is any way to tie into the main water supply line in order to feed this pump. If water is already drawn through the motor via vaccumm from the manifold(s), can I ignore this external pump housing or is it imperative that the external pupm also draw water for cooling the motor as well? Any assistance would be graciously appreciated.

Re: '90 motor in '94 GTS hull
No way that is a water pump. It is nothing more than a water jacket. The jet pump is your only water pump and it supplys the engine with water. A tee fitting installed into the main waterline from the pump feeds the later model 587 engine and exhaust pipe with water.
You just need to remove that tee fitting and run the main water line into and out of that water jacket and onto the exhaust pipe to make it work.Bill O'Neal <br>
