  • Flame arrestors on stock carbs...

I understand the vulnerability to leaning out with prok arrestors and stock carbs...what if I run 93oct gasoline...can i defeat this "weak" signal by running this fuel and not have to rejet? How much am I really losing by leaving the stock arrestors on?

What needle changes are made to the stock carbs to run with prok arrestors?

    thanks

Signal has nothing to do with air/fuel mixture and neither of those have anything to do with octane requirements.

Do it right or don't do it - unless you like blown engines.

It gives 1-2 MPH topend and a bit better accelleration.

Re: Flame arrestors on stock carbs...

Thanks for your response...I have tried to do research and it mentioned the "signal" or vacuum induced by the stock flame arrestor aided in sucking in more fuel in the carbs...so this would impact 'air/fuel. For some reason, I thought higher octane might prevent detonation or a lean condition. I have reservations about removing the carb...have no idea how to remove the throttle and choke cables not to mention re-installing them properly.

I figure you would need to cut an allen wrench to get to the allen bolts...any tips here?

      Thanks

Wrong. It effects the amount of fuel mixture not ratio.

No, lean conditions are prevented by not running lean.

Read the engine removal/install guide in the tech section.

Thanks for the feedback...going to put the stock flame arrestors back and leave the carb jetting alone. Waiting for my head to come in guess that will be my aftermarket effort to gain some powah.:)

My Prok arresstors and rejet kit makes the motor actually run richer with less chance of running lean than the oem setup.

Does your rejet kit work on only otherwise stock motors, or do you have one for the spec II as well? I just bought a used spec II and need to install it. I need a set of flame arrestors. Thanks.
