I have a 99GSX-L in the shop that was ridden in,filled with fuel and when he went to leave wouldn't start. Spark/Compression fine. When you release the start button it kills. Have used my start switch, coded new key, swapped out DESS post, tried different starter relay, double checked all grounds, pulled plugs from MPEM and inspect.Checked with wiring diagram that all wires are in right sockets, etc. Has anyone ever had this issue? I'm leaning towards new MPEM but just thought I'd see if anyone else has had this. Thanks.

Re: '99 GSX-L no start
Sea Doo made two types of start/stop switches throughout the years. One is a closed switch, the other an open switch. The 1999 GSX has an "open" type switch.
To test the switch, disconnect the yellow/red wire of the start/stop switch. Using an ohmmeter, connect test probes to the yellow/red and to a ground.
Measure resistance, it must be an open circuit ( switch is normally open). Depress and hold switch, the ohmmeter should read close to zero ohm.
Is it possible that you installed a closed type switch in place of a bad "open" type switch?
As always, make double sure you have a perfect battery installed in the ski, as any drop in voltage from the battery will shut down the ignition system.Bill O'Neal <br>
