  • Tuning carbs via exhaust gas temperature

Has anyone ever tried tuning their carbs by reading thre exhaust gas temperature? I have just added a Factory Pipe to my 95 XP and was thinking of putting 2 EGT sensors in the exhaust manifold (1 for each cylinder). I am just wondering if there is any information regarding what is the ideal temp for the exhaust gas at a specific rev count, etc. Can anyone shed any light on the subject?:emoticont

Race Pak3 EGT guages have been used on Sea Doo's and other PWC for years. When you hit 1200-1250 degrees F., things will start detonating and melt.
The complete guage and probe assembly sells for $435.00. If you have a Spec2, you will see two bosses on the exhaust manifold to drill and install the probes.

I learned to use it as a guide. Not as just a tuning mechanism.
