  • speedster driveshaft seal

I have a '95 speedster, I have replaced the seals on the driveshaft in the carrier inside the boat just behind the PTO, is there another seal that is suppose to cover the "indent" in the water tunnel under the boat where the driveshaft comes out there? I'm not really sure how else to explain it. Thanks.

No, just the seal assembly on the inside of the hull.

Actually, the "indent" is where the shaft protector is inserted into the hull.

Shaft protector BAH!, the first thing we removed and threw away! They were supposed to cut down on weeds....great idea, except they collected more weeds than the eliminated.

i was looking at the microfiche online for it and the shaft protection tube looked like it wasn't added until the '96 model year, either way i wouldn't want to have it...i think my problem is that the wear rings are shot and the impellers have dents in them from a previous owner :emoticonc, i was just going to try and eliminate all the problems at once if there were more.

              I agree,
I'm not sure if the 95 had them. But, you are better off, performance-wise, without them. But, rope damage was/is an issue with these boats.

Wear rings are cheap, I got mine from Docksidemarine, for $33/pc. As for the impellers, I just filed them sharp. I see no point in buying $200 props for a 9 year old boat, with 250 hours on it.

That's where Dave and the crew at Impros come in, they recondition your old impellers for a fraction of the cost of a new one!!! www.impros.com

                  Re: speedster driveshaft seal

I just popped those guys at Impros a email about it. One thing I want to do is get the two different pitch blades in there since everyone said that the engines load up differently with the water. One side has a bit more load then the other which was one of the reasons I was thinking of getting new ones, but if my old ones can be reconditioned and re-pitched then that will work way better for the money anyway.

John, thanks for the heads-up. I've been having a hard time finding someone to do PWC impellers.
