96 GTX gas gauge

I have a 1996 GTX and the gas gauge doesnt work. All the other displays on all 3 gauges work, but nothing at all on the lower half of the center gauge which I assume has a bar type display of fuel level. I have check all the connections which seem to be OK. Any troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

Obviously I am less than a shade tree mechanic. I did the test where I disconnected the fuel gauge and jumpped the pink and red wires and the gauge worked fine, so I know the problem is in the fuel level sensor assembly, but what exactly is the baffle.

that is the fuel sender. Sea-Doo calls it a 'baffle ***'y'
