  • What do I do next after I replace cylinders?

I have a 1998 GS with a 717cc engine. I starts and runs fine out of the water, but once you put it in the water it falls on it's face. I just put a new engine rebuild kit in it and it is now compressing at 120psi on both cylinders. With no variation in the cylinders compression I doubt this is my problem. I am new to PWC mechanics so I am wondering could there be a problem other than the engine such as a clogged line or a bad pump?

The old cylinders were pretty scarred up. I think water might be getting in through the water mainifold because water is still getting in through the cylinders even though I have replaced all of the seals in the engine. I don't think that it is coming through the exahaust since this is occurring while it is hooked to the hose.

You must start the engine before turning on the water hose and you must turn off the water before you stop the engine.. If you leave the water hose running when the engine is not running that is where the water is comming from.

Compression is too low for one. And fast ski is right, did you rebuild the carbs? Clean the fuel system? Did you break a ring when you put it back together? Did you check ring tesion? Was the cylinders bored? We need more info.

The cylinders weren't bored. If you leave the hose running with the ski running it will eventually bog down like in the water and the cylinders are full of water.
