    What are the compression numbers supposed to be on a '04 GTI RFI (787)?

      This '04 GTI is running 180 exactly on both cylinders.

      It is brand new, bought it this year. About 40 hrs on it already.

      Are these numbers too high?

      My '98 XP is running 140 on both cylinders using the same compression gage.

        There is most lilely just an abundance of oil/fuel in the GTI. Nothing to worry about if it's stock.
