Exactly define 'rebuilt' and why did the first engine fail?

I have preached it here from day one. You cannot replace the brass gear without replacing the whole RV shaft and gear assembly.

When a brass gear shears the teeth off, it ALWAYS bends the RV shaft. The rv shaft runout tolereance is only .002. That is about what they measure when they are new and perfect.

You just waised a new gear and all the time it took to do the job. Now, do it again and use new (or good) parts.
