  • 95 seadoo gtx dess problem

:emoticoncI have a 95 gtx with a rebuilt motor put in. I was at the lake breaking it in(rode for 1 1/2 hrs) shut and took the landyard. came back and only getting short beep/long beep-no start. checked the battery. can jump the solonoid and turns easy. thought it was the dess landyard, took it to a dealer and he tested the key with his programmer(o.k) however. when he hooked the programmer to the post he got no reading. I left it for them to check(1 hr elect diagnostic) at 85 bucks an hour. is the only thing either the post of the memm board that could be wrong?? I have a friends 95 spi, but his post is non dess(2 wires instead of three) is there a way to test these components without paying a fortune to the dealer??

According to the service manual, there is no short beep, long beep code in the automatic self diagonstic mode.
There are several codes, none of which is shrot beep long beep.
Are you sure that is the code in that order that you are hearing?

Have you tried the advanced self diagnostic proceedures?
Without the lanyard installed, press 5 times on the start button.
You will hear one short beep and one long beep. They validate beginning of diagonostic mode.
Now, install the lanyard and then press the start/stop switch again.
If everthing is allright, the engine will start. If not, listen for the code and tell me what you hear.

With the lanyard off the post? I still doubt it.

Maybe the lanyard post is shot or disconnected?

Re: 95 seadoo gtx dess problem

I am getting the short beep/long beep with or without the lanyard, that is why I thought the landyard was defective. When I took to the dealer the lanyard tested ok.should I spend the 95$ on a new post(since the programmer could not read) or is there any other components that could be failing??
as far as the 5 times to iht the start button to get it into this mode, I did that without the lanyard figuring that with the key it would have reset and worked normally

                    So I was right? lol

It's most commonly a bad post, or bad connection. The last thing to change would be the MPEM, but I would expect the computer to at least be able to connect and verify if that were the case. I would do the post.

Re: 95 seadoo gtx dess problem

If the lanyard were bad, you would hear no beeps at all when you installed it. Assuming that you are hearing beeps with the installation of the lanyard, the lanyard post must be working too.

Exactly what do you hear when you leave the lanyard off, press the button 5 times, then install the lanyard and press the start button?

It is unclear to me what you said you did and heard.
