When removing the super charger and installing the new booster kit with ceramic washers do you need to remove the engine and clean the screens?

I assume you are changing it because the old one failed? If so, chances are if it was run for any period of time that the ground up particles will be in the screen of the scavange pump and in the pto housing.
To do this job properly, you should hoist the engine up a couple of feet so you can remove and clean out all of the oil passages and screens. You need to remove the scavange pump on the front of the motor and the pto housing on the rear of the motor. There may be some scoring or damage to the scavenger pump housing or gears that may require some replacement parts.
Typically most of the debris will be in the lower parts of the engine oiling system as it usually does not travel up to the uppper parts unless it was used for several hours with the broken parts floating around it the oiling system.
Study the oiling system in the manual. It will help you visulize where the broken particles can get into.

Some guys shortcut all of this and just replace the broken parts, but it can come back to bite you if you choose to do that.
