I have read quite a few posts from this site and hope that everyone's expertise can guide me in the right direction. I have a 1999 Challenger 1800 (twin 110hp 787 engines) and have had problems with the starboard engine. Last time out had difficulty starting, and after running for 20 min or so and stopping, would not start again. Got back to ramp on port engine, put boat in garage. Put in new plugs, no luck. Pulled pto rave valve, corner section missing, pulled other valve, very fouled. Cleaned all valves, replaced broken one, installed all w/ new gaskets, o-rings, etc. still starboard would not start. Checked for spark w/ in-line spark plug light, seems ok. Checked compression of broken valve cylinder, was - 140 psi. Other cylinder - problem - 20 psi. What now? Replace piston rings? Do I do a top end rebuild? Could it be a problem with the rotary valve? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
