  • Starting Problem

My '91 XP has been running great for a while now. Yesterday I went to start it, it cranked over (at a normal starting speed, not slower as with a low or dead battery) a few times without starting and now all it does is the solenoid clicks. I charged the battery over night but still has the same symptoms. The starter is new last spring. Not sure of what it could be, Please help!

    Re: Starting Problem

You can test the starter motor by jumping a hot wire directly to the positive posts on the battery and the starter motor. If it does not work, replace the starter motor.
If it does make the starter motor work, replace the starter solenoid ( called a relay) in the electrical box.

check ur battery, does it still have fluid? if the fluid drained below half way, u need a new battery.

        Re: Starting Problem

Sounds like the starter to me also. But you could get lucky with the relay like Bill said. If it is the starter I suggest new OE starter not aftermarket. They tend to not last nearly as long.
