    1988 Seadoo no spark
Thanks for some of the tips on finding the problem, but I still have no spark,
Does having 12 volts to the coil eliminate any other electrical issues?
I did trace 12 volts to the coil, can I trace it any further? do the plug wires on the other side of the coil slide off easily to test? All I know is when I crank the motor , 12 volts at the coil, no spark at ends of wires or plug..
    please advise...

    Thanks,
    Ron

Did you througoly inspect that CDI to coil harness for breaks in the wires? That is the difficult part of testing for this problem. I have found that I sometimes get a connection, but when the engine is cranking or even running, it will lose the connection if the wire is severed just barely making a contact. You need to wiggle the wires as you are testing them to see if there is a problem in that harness.

If there is no problem maintaing power to the primary side of the coil, then your coil may be defective and need replacing.

Did you disconnect the brown wire to the rev limiter? By doing so, you take the rev limiter out of the loop. The rev limiter is connected to the stop button wiring as that is where they both go to ground to kill the motor ( kill the spark). Be advised, once the rev limiter is disconnected, the stop button will no longer function and kill the engine. If by disconnecting the brown wire on the rev limiter solves your no spark issue, replace the rev limiter as it is what is killing your spark.

Sounds like the CDI or the magnito. I would call Mitch at M&M Marine in CA. 1-888-802-7828. He has great prices on used parts and alot of knowledge electrical problems because he tests all of his stuff before sending it out. Tell him Josh at Lighthouse in VA told you to call him.
