  • XPL carrier bearing and throttle cable questions!

Just checking to make sure that the rear carrier bearing for the HX/'97XP, and XPL are all the same?

On another note, was their a difference with the '98 and '99 XPL rear driveshafts?

Also, when deleting oil injection off the XPL, what is the common practice for the injector cable since it's tied in with the throttle cable?

    thanks,

    Steve

Re: XPL carrier bearing and throttle cable questions!

    Steve,
The aluminum carrier bearing support joint part number 272 000 012 400 from an HX is the same as on an XPL. Memory tells me that the rear driveshafts are the same but the coupler is different from the 98 to the 99 and later models, which are stronger.
Any hopped up 98 XPL needs the pto coupler, center driveshaft, rear coupler and the two rubber couplers replaced with 1999 or later parts or it will eventually spit out the center driveshaft.

Just let the oil cable hang in there disconnected. If you ever need to replace the throttle cable, use one that doesn't have the oil injector split cable.

      Thanks Bill,

I noticed on the online microfiche last nite, the '98 rear driveshaft had an update number for it, same as the '99's and newer. I figured there must have been a difference.

Just found out, they had an update on the shaft for 1999. The '98 model used a seal carrier with a couple of seals in it that still mounted the same to the little boot and clamp, '99 and newer switched to the old carbone seal and c-clip assembly. Guessing that the '98 didn't have the shaft machined for the c-clip.

Steve, correct.. The 98 Driveshaft's did not have the grrove in it. That came out in the 99.

It will still work fine though.
