  • SBT alignment tool question-XPL

I have two shaft adapters, one I used with the 787.
The other I assume is for the 951. I removed the plastic thing from the pto (won't fit if i leave it on) and the adapter slides on but it will also slide on at an angle. Looks like it will slide on even if it is 1/2" out of alignment.
    What am I doing wrong?

Pics of the pto and the tool angled up and angled down.

On the 787, the alignment shaft adapter slid VERY tight into the pto with no lataral movement.

      Thank you

Ah. It's not going to be snug, you just align it to the center point.

I assume this is the acceptable limit for the rubber couplers.
          1/2" up-down-side-side.

It is impossible to "eyeball" the pto angle with the motor in

Just want to get it right.

          Thanks again

you should be ok... I think on that the most critical point is your carrier bearing/housing alignment. Which should be aligned since you did not move it.
those rubber couplers are pretty forgiving.
They dont send an adapter for the 951 pto with the sbt align kit? I just bought one and was planning on doing the same thing.

The thing I'm holding in the pics is the adapter that came with it.
I moved or removed everything on the driveline.
If you look at the pics, you can see how far up and down the adapter moves (side to side too). That is what concerns me, with that much variation (1/2") it seems like it would be easier to just "eyeball" it.
