  • speedster oil in both engines

Hi I installed 2 657 seadoo engines purchased from sbt about 2 years ago.The problem is they sat for that peroid of time.I went to fire them up and they both were full of oil,all 4 plug holes.I flushed the engines out and ran the boat ran fine. A week later they were full again. They both now have new oil pumps on them and still fill with oil.I have purchased quite a few engines from you guys what now? Thanks

That is from the inner crank seals breached, letting the oil bath flow through. It is caused by excessive storage periods, as you unfortunately just found out. Inthe future, if you will store them that long, simply drain the oil.

Fortunately the fix is cheap. You need to pull the enignes, split the bottom of the case and simply reseat and seal them in with new case sealer (Threebond 1211 is recommended). It'll cost you an Install Gasket kit for each and a few hours.

      Dear Sir,
Our engine has the same issue. Splitted the bottom of the case, reseated and sealed with 'Threebond 1211'. The engine is full of oil after a day's time. Would you please advice what can be done? Thanks!

The next step is a new crank which has new seals, if you are sure you reseale and assembled correctly.

          Dear Sir,

How much / what level of oil in the bath is normal after a new crank which has new seals is fitted in? What is the price for the supply of a crank which has new seals?

          Regards,
          Simon

The crank is $275. The bath should be full, but have zero leakage to the outer sections.

              Dear Sir,

If there is a lot of oil leaks to the outer sections, it means that the crank seals breach, is it correct? Is it possible to renew the seals only?

              Regards,
              Simon

Yes that's what it means, and no you can't just do the seals, they are part of the crank.
