  • Seadoo 717 grinding noise

I have a Seadoo with a 717 Rotax motor that won't start. Had it out on the lake, was running fine, then all of a sudden it slowed down an quit. It was hard turning over and did not start. I took it out of the water and was able to get it stated briefly. It made a loud banging noise, if I recall. I went ahead and replaced starter. Now I have a grinding noise, sounds like from the front of the motor. Could it be the flywheel or magneto?
I checked plugs, they were a little black (but not oil). I'm thinking about pulling front cover off to check flywheel. Where should I start looking?

Most likely you have had a seizure. You need to pull the engine and tear it down for inspection.
