I am in the process of engine alignment of my 97 seadoo gti, 717 motor, with the engine alignment tool from SBT. My question is how much tolerance do I have with the drive shaft going into the flywheel? Before going in the tool brushes the side? Please advise?

It should slide into the PTO freely without having to force it.

      Is there any tolerance? +/- .1; .01;.001?

No, it either goes in without deflection or it doesn't. Watch the vid: http://www.sbtontheweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12009

Can I use washers in place of shims?

As long as they are big enough to provide proper support. Findhing such large diameter but thin washers will be next to impossible.

You can get them from a dealer or we have shim packs here: http://www.sbtontheweb.com/Merchant2...egory_Code=37-

It includes over a dozen shims in various sizes, enough to do any swap (or two).
