  • Direct, air injector replacement

    Hello,
I am working on a 2001 GTX DI that needs the direct (air) injectors replaced. Both of their coils are open. I have the fuel/air rail off but have not pulled the injectors out of the head. The Sea Doo book calls for a special tool to compress the carbon dam when installing the new injector. I have ordered the tool along with the injectors. Is there anything tricky about removing or installing these parts? In addition one of the fuel injectors in the rail has some bad pitting where the top o-ring sits. Looks like that injector needs to be replace also.

    Any advice would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Alan

I don't see a problem if you follow the service manual instructions.

The information in the manual I have simply states to "remove the injector". For installation it more or less states to "compress the carbon dam with the special tool and install". I was hoping to get some feedback from someone who has actually done this job for any difficulty they may of had.

        Update:

I replaced both direct injector on this 2001 GTX DI. They pull straight out of the head with a moderate amount of effort and twisting. The manual calls for the use of a special tool which I purchased to "compress the carbon dam" before installing the new injector. The old direct injector did not have a carbon dam neither did the new one. It has what looks like a teflon ring in slight wedge shape. The special tool is not needed. The new injector simply pushes into the head.
