  • 951cc Seadoo Engine

    Hello everyone,

I've begun looking for a 98-00 951cc Seadoo XP but I've heard lots of good and bad things regarding them. Also I've heard plenty of bad things during these years about sucking water in the intake, the VTS going out and generalized negativity. I'm a die hard SuperJet fan yet need to make the transition to the sit down and have found the XPL to be the best fit for me. I simply want a little help, I know about routine maintenance, winterizing and such but need a little more info from the people who already own them.

    Thanks much,

:emoticons I have the seadoo 951 and also know about the gasket blowing, allowing water to enter through the intake, bad flaw for seadoo. But i have the sure fix eliminate the stupid rubber flappers and connecting air ducks, seal the air box, cut a new opening on the other side of both air ways@same size, be sure the same height also. Not all 951s blow but do make sure periodicaly that your torx bolts are tight on occasional inspection, I do and found that they vibrate loose at least one or the other , not by much but do come loose. also i found that you could swap your intake and exhaust with the 2000 model that seadoo corrected the problem with and o-ring instead of the paper gasket. GOOD LUCK.

Spend a few hours reading the Sea Doo forum at the pwctoday.com website. It is pretty much all we talk about over there.
