  • 98 GSX with New SBT 951 burning up spark plug

Just installed an SBT motor in my 98 GSX and made it through the first tank of premix fuel according to break-in instructions. After refueling with a second tank of premix today the ski immediately started acting up. So shut it off, pulled the plugs for a visual and the spark plug in the front cylinder was toast. The electrode had completely burned the tip off.

The front cylinder has zero compression and the rear cylinder is around 130. Guess the piston in the front cylinder is toast.

    Thanks.

Then find out what caused it to run that lean. Chances are good that that carbureator is clogged up.
If you install another motor without fixing the problem, the same thing will happen again.
