Is there a way to determine if I am cavitating while I am riding? Does the sound change when there is cavitation? I have a 2003 GTX that I bought used and would like to know how to determine this so if a problem arises.

Re: Cavitation
It will feel like you have a slipping clutch on takeoff. the engine will rev up, but the boat won't go forward as it should.Originally posted by sscadIs there a way to determine if I am cavitating while I am riding? Re: Cavitation
I had it in the water once and it seemed to accelerate fine but I have nothing to compare it to. It did seem to rev to over 7000 rpm very quickly, like it had no load to resist. Maybe I'm just not familiar with the way it should sound and run yet. I little more experience will help. Just waiting for warmer weather.
Thanks,
Steve
