96 seadoo xp speedo and VTS issues

Just bought an 96 XP 800
the thing runs like a top but the speedo gage is not registering anything and the VTS works but the trim gage is not recording any of the movements any thought on what could be wrong and is there any way of testing these gages with a multi-meter or is there other issues I should be looking for?

I had the same problems with mine. The speedo problem was the little paddlewheel assembly in back on the rideplate, and the trim gauge problem was the gauge itself. There is a test procedure in the oem manual for both.

The speedo has already started to have problems since being replaced. I won't bother fixing it this time since it's not accurate at all.
