New guy needs help with 580

Hello there folks,
I am in need of some advice. I just purchased my first two Sea-doos (1990 580's) on e-bay. I cannot get spark out of either one, the batteries are fully charged and brand new, great cranking speed. Am I missing somthing real simple and stupid? The tether switches are working fine. The m/c's have been sitting for a year or so. The old owner had indicated that they were running but not great. The fact that niether m/c will spark tells me I am doing somthing wrong.

I have a 89 and a 90 sp and the ground wires tend to rot from the inside out sometimes i replaced all of them and thats how i got my spark back it was a grounding issue

you need to clean the grounds lik ehe suggested ,and check all fuses too also you will probele find the problem in your spark plug wires as all you need to do is cut off a 1/2 " and re-install them as that is and old machine and there old but if that doesent work you can take a ground wire from your battery and touch it to the grounds on your coil and if it starts then youknow you have a ground issue and if you have had the batterys out to charge and dissoconnected there is a ground wire on the neg post that you might not of hooked up now not all machine have one but some do so look around and see if you find a wire not connected as it wont start if not connected, but try thr extra ground wire on the neg post and you can just touch it to the ground on the coil see if it starts good luck

Wow you guys are good! I have one of the two running (bad connections/ground). My kids will have a good week end after all. They will just have to learn to share.

with old skis they will learn how to swim too... i had that experience hehe enjoy!
