  • 94 SPX project

I am searching for info on performance upgrades for this 94 SPX I'm fixing up. My first big question is are there any special details I need to consider if I remove the oil injection and oil tank. It seems like I can just remove the oil pump, lines, tank, etc. seal all of the holes, and just start pre mixing. Is this OK, and If so what ratio would you reccomend? I dont trust the oil injection, especially since the pistons were burnt up and the lines are so old. The other thing is the exhaust, Factory Pipe seems to be my best option, but I dont want to buy a new one, its 800 bucks. Anybody got a used one? Thanks!

Oil pumps dont fail as often as every one seems to think, If you switch to pre mix then you have to loop the line that feeds the rotary shaft or leave the oil tank connected to these hoses. First thing you should do is replace all of the fuel lines and go through the carbs. Tom SBT tech.

Thank you for the info on the oil injection. That will be very handy. Any info on my exhaust question? Also what should I set my high and low speed jets at when reinstall the carbs? I am very conserned about this motor running to lean, these pistons are burned up pretty bad. thankyou

Jetting, low speed 1 and 1/4 out +or- high is 3/8 out . cant help you on the pipe but if you do replace the stock one you will have to re jet. Tom SBT tech.

Thanks Tom, your tons of help. I am upgrading the hood because its cracked. Will a 1999 black SPX hood with mirrors fit on the 94 SPX hull? They look like the same basic shape. Thanks
