  • 97 GTX running on one cylinder

I have a 97 GTX just put a new SBT engine in it. It will start but not idle up. when I checked the plugs it looks like the front cylinder is firing but the back is not. I put carb. kit in. but cant tell if its getting gas or not. Best I could tell in the sunlight it was getting a spark. anyhelp would be appreciated. thanks.

    Did you check compression?

Did you rebuild the carbs correctly (it's a dual carb right?)?

Did you check the pop-off of the carbs? If your pop-off on the rear carb is too high, then it won't allow fuel into the fuel circuits, hence, not getting fuel into the motor.

      Also, is it timed correctly?

Not really.. The gauge is not too expensive. You can always pull the carbs and take them into a local dealer and ask them to check the PO. Takes all of 5 minutes to do, but it is the difference between your motor running, or not running.
