I'm looking at a 1996 Sea Doo GSX this weekend and want to take a compression reading. The engine is a 787 and was hoping someone can shed some light (or supply a helpful link) on a good engine compression reading I should be looking for? Thanks

A good compression reading is EVEN.. or within 10% of eachother. Factory compression from a 787 motor is 150, on a calibrated gauge.Dan Solie -

Re: 1996 Sea Doo GSX
Good ski.. The 787 powerplant in them is one of the most solid that sea-doo ever made.. Pretty playful ski, and a little more stable than the XP version of that year.
It's all about how it has been maintained..Dan Solie -

Re: 1996 Sea Doo GSX
Hey a tip that my Seadoo dealer told me..
Hold your throttle wide open when you do your compression test.. I had a new SBT motor that only hit 124..
And the Seadoo tech explained that you have to hold it WOT to get enough air in for a more accurate test.
