  • 96 GTX Crankshaft Removal Or seal remedy

    My 96 GTX crank shaft seals are shot (fills the cylenders up with oil every night) i am thinking about buying a new crank with the seals pressed on it but i do not know how to remove/replace the crankshaft on a 787 rotax, is it hard and does anyone have any instructionns on what to do,or other suggestions on how to fix the seals or replace them.Anything Helps,Thanks

    You need a rebuild or new crank, it is not hard at all, since it is your first engine get the OEM shopmanual.
    It describe's the rebuild perfect.
    You do need some special tools to remove the PTO and the flywheel.
    You need a torque wrench and a degree wheel for assembbly.
    If you do the crank get a engine gasket kit.
    I would first tear down the engine to see the shape of other parts, it might end up that a full rebuild is the way to go since it is aparty anyway and you don't want to do any other work to the engine any time soon.
