Hey everyone, i replaced my starter with a brand new oem starter and now all i get is the humming sound as if the bendix is not kicking out to the flywheel,my question is, does the bendix suddenly go out sometimes without notice or is it a special way to put the new starter in or is it a way to check the bendix without taking off the stator cover.this is killing me, im just ready to ride again. Thanks

Re: Starter replacement trouble 98 xpl 951
Make sure power is at the starter (12 volts) while pushing the starter button if so, remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over by hand. If the engine does not turn over by hand you have other issues. turn over by hand at the rear of the engine (pto) by rotating the rear coupler.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.
