  • rotary gear on the crankshaft

i am rebuilding my 720 motor out of a 95 XP. The gear on the crankshaft in the center has some marring on a few of the teeth. Can i still reuse that crankshaft or does it need to be rebuilt?

Re: rotary gear on the crankshaft

Depends on what your definition of "some" and "marring" is... Sometimes, you can get away with a small file and remove all the burrs, sometimes, not..

    Post up a pic

its not that the gear itself is marred...it looks like some of the brass gear on the rotary shaft melted onto the gear on the crankshaft

Then I would say no.. Without seeing a pic. If there is bad enough damage, you could end up popping a RV gear..
